Dan's Story of Hooked-on Kitesurfing

After starting kitesurfing 4 years ago I immediately felt myself sucked into a new lifestyle. I decided to head out to the Dominican Republic for 8 weeks to learn to kitesurf and become an instructor, and as soon as I arrived I knew this was the lifestyle for me and settled in very quickly. Learning to kitesurf brought the feeling of freedom and even today I still get that same feeling as the wind pulls me along the water out into the open sea, not having to think about a thing.

After becoming an instructor I started to pass my knowledge onto others and have great pride in seeing people getting there first board start or that first time they feel the power of the kite just as I did when I started. I've always had the mentality to be chilled out and relaxed when teaching and make things fun but providing a big emphasis on safety.

After teaching for a few years I began building contacts and forming a community of people. Everywhere I would go a small group would always form where we all got on and had a great time while sharing our passion in life – kitesurfing.

Thats when the idea for Hooked-on Kitesurfing began. Our aim is to providing people with that relaxed community that I love so much, making kitesurfing more accessible and enjoyable for all. I am proud of our emphasis on quality, professionalism and safety with lessons, providing people with an exciting and fun entrance into the amazing world of kitesurfing. I look forward to meeting more fantastic people through our growing community!
